The HMS Darwin was one of the most important ships in the British Royal Navy. She was launched in 1859 and saw action in many of the most important naval battles of the 19th century. The Darwin was a steam-powered frigate, and she was armed with a battery of cannons and a number of torpedoes. She also carried a number of smaller boats, which could be used to transport troops or to attack enemy ships.

The Darwin saw her first action in the Crimean War, where she helped to capture the Russian port of Sevastopol. She also played a role in the Battle of the Yellow Sea, where she helped to defeat a squadron of Chinese warships.

In 1871, the Darwin took part in the Battle of Beechey Island, where she helped to destroy a squadron of American warships. The Darwin also took part in the Battle of the Falklands, where she helped to defeat a squadron of Spanish warships.

In 1884, the Darwin took part in the Battle of Tamsui, where she helped to defeat a squadron of Japanese warships. The Darwin was also involved in the Battle of Jiaozhou Bay, where she helped to defeat a squadron of Chinese warships.

The Darwin was finally retired from service in 1905. She is now on display at the Royal Navy Museum in Portsmouth.
